Mayweather vs. Ortiz: Winner will face Manny Pacquiao?

Floyd Mayweather Jr., the undefeated former champion will be in full force when he face Victor ‘Vicious’ Ortiz on their fight on September 17, 2011 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This could be one of the best fights for 2011 and considered to be an eliminator as the winner of this fight will face Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao who will be fighting Juan Manuel Marquez for the 3rd time this November.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. (41-0, 25 KO’s) last fight was a unanimous decision over Shane Mosley on May 1, 2010, who coincidentally Manny Pacquiao beat Mosley convincingly compared to Floyd who is not that impressive.

Victor ‘Vicious’ Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KO’s) has a 6 bout win streak, more importantly he defeated the bright and upcoming prospect Andre Bert in a more dramatic and fashion way to claim the WBC crown in a fight many consider the year’s best. It was a hell of a fight as both fighters expected to launch its lethal power to each other and it was Ortiz who widely considered as the underdog of that fight but he prove all doubters wrong by knocking out Andre Berto.

It was indeed a very big surprised when Floyd Mayweather Jr. come out from retirement and announced that he will challenge Victor Ortiz for a lightweight belt. This could be his workout and if he wins, he will consider the fight against Manny Pacquiao. It has been over the years that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is avoiding Pacquiao with too many excuses.

But would Victor Ortiz allow Mayweather to realize his plans? Ortiz known for his work ethic and lethal power in both hands is not a push over and definitely, he is not here for nothing. He is a champion and he wants’ to showcase that via beating Floyd Mayweather Jr. convincingly and have the opportunity to face Manny Pacquiao instead Floyd Mayweather Jr. will do.

Indeed, this fight could be more exciting and entertaining if both fighters will live to its reputation and showcase their real skills in the boxing ring. It is expected, that Victor Ortiz wants’ to prove to Floyd that he is not a kid anymore and he has high respect on the former champion but he means business here and he wants’ Manny Pacquiao after their fight.

One thing for sure, millions of fans around the world will witness how Floyd Mayweather Jr. will perform and how he will match up pretty well with Victor Ortiz. Because this young guy and a warrior will definitely give Floyd a hard time to make his show on fight night…. Victor Ortiz is bound to shock the world and stop Floyd Mayweather Jr. dream on facing Manny Pacquiao because that would be his prayers not fighting on Pacquiao.

Would it be Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao? Or Victor Ortiz vs. Manny Pacquiao in the making?

Mayweather laughs off Ortiz threat during HBO “Face Off”

Undefeated, five-division boxing World Champion Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather was all smiles, while WBC Welterweight champion ‘Vicious’ Victor Ortiz exuded nervous energy as he dug deep in his bag of verses, when both protagonists faced off in front of HBO’s Max Kellermen to promote their September 17 clash at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

There’s no confusing who the seasoned vet is next to the anxious rookie in front of the cameras, as Mayweather mocked and patronized Ortiz throughout the 12-minute feature, sending a message that he isn’t the least bit concerned with the young champion in front of him. At one point, Mayweather even interrupted Kellerman’s questioning to point out his fashion sense in naming the brand of shoes he was wearing.

Trash Talking with Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Up at the Top Table, Victor Ortiz put his finger to his head and pulled the imaginary trigger before a wide smile lit up his face.

The WBC Welterweight Champion was sitting on the stage of the Hudson Theater in Midtown, Manhattan, just yards from the man he has wanted to fight for 15 years, back when he was a nine-year-old Mexican immigrant in Kansas.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. was the main draw for the huge crowd at the old Broadway venue. But the organizers were keen to point out that the finger, who agreed to a challenge from “Pretty Boy” or “Money” as he how prefers to be known, had an upbringing so rough that his story is every bit as engaging as that of the still unbeaten six-time champion.
